Can a vampire and a human fall in love forevermore? Or will the allure of Bella’s blood be too much for Edward to bear? Not everyone in his adopted family supports his decision, but his sister Alice’s visions of the future give him hope. So he decides to protect Bella from dangers both human and non-human. However, being a vampire, he struggles with his innate desire to hunt her though he knows it’s wrong to give into his cravings. In this version, Edward finds himself fascinated by – and eventually attracted to – Bella Swan, the new girl at school. Midnight Sun, by Stephenie Meyer, is Twilight retold from the perspective of the series’ leading man, Edward Cullen. Billed as a companion book to Twilight (as opposed to a fifth entry in the series), does Midnight Sun make a worthy addition to the YA vampire saga or was it better left in the literary coffin? Which brings me to this novel, which was nearly 20 years in the making. ![]() My opinion of these books has changed for the better over the years, and while it isn’t one of my favorite series, it has its merits and the global phenomena it ignited was fascinating. I’ve never been a Twi-hard but I’ve also never been a Twi-hater either. I’ve reviewed all of the Twilight novels (with the exception of the novella The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, which left me unimpressed). ![]() ![]() Described by Ra as a “beautiful little experiment,” the volume builds on the success of Iraq +100(2016).
